World Opera Day
The Teatro de la Maestranza of Seville joins the initiative of Opera Europa Opera Reboot for the celebration of World Opera Day based on the pillars of sustainability, equality, and generation of young talents.
Opera and young ones
Several groups coming from 10 art-related educational centers (University of Seville) were invited by the Maestranza to attend a dress rehearsal of Madama Butterfly. Afterwards, they were welcomed to participate to a very special activity: students expressed, either individually or in groups, a thought on what this experience meant for them: their relationship with the music, the singing, and the art, their feelings on the production etc. They could develop any type of free-form art expression.
The Theater will document the students’ creative process through an audiovisual piece which will collect interviews with their stories. The aim of this video is to stimulate students’ interest and curiosity in the opera industry and transmit World Opera Day values. We will post the video on our website and social media on the day of the 25th.
Opera and children
In December, the Maestranza will host Pauline Viardot´s La Cenicienta for schools. An educational activity is offered before the performance: the children will make ¨sustainable¨ fine art objects made from recycled materials regarding La Cenicienta.
Opera on the radio
Similarly, the radio program Hoy por hoy Sevilla on national Channel SER conducted by Salomón Hachuel will be live streaming from the Teatro de la Maestranza to celebrate World Opera Day. Experts, artists, and other special guests will participate.
Opera from the roof
A small recital will be transmitted live from the Teatro de la Maestranza, located in the heart of historic Seville, on the banks of the Guadalquivir, location of more than 150 operas like Carmen, Fidelio or The Marriage of Figaro. 7 p.m YouTube @TeatrodelaMaestranzaOficial
