Dancing with nature
“No man loves the countryside more than I” wrote Ludwig van Beethoven in a letter to Thérèse Malfatti in 1807. His Pastoral symphony is the proof. It is often presented as a musical description of nature but in reality the Pastoral is not so much an exercise in imitation as the expression inspired by birdsongs and storms or the idea of the innocence and purity of flowery paths.
This is the Pastoral of the Malandain Ballet Biarritz, a show which premiered in 2019 and which invokes Hellenic Antiquity and its aspiration towards an ideal of plasticity and beauty in search of grace and light.
With choreography by Thierry Malandain and a ballet corps which celebrates the sensuality and humanity of the body, this very beautiful spectacle revitalizes classical dance with a contemporary vision of nature that is as energetic as it is subdued.
Created for the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven.

Autor de más de 80 coreografías, sigue creando un repertorio coherente, profundamente ligado al Ballet, en el que la prioridad es el cuerpo danzante, su potencia, su virtuosidad, su humanidad y su sensualidad. La búsqueda del sentido y de la estética es la base de un estilo intemporal y sobrio. Estilo que puede ser grave o impertinente y cuya riqueza se basa tanto en las raíces como en una visión renovada de la danza académica.
