Six birds in hand

Through the fingers and across the strings of Vicente Amigo it is possible to follow the recent evolution of the Flamenco guitar. In his last show, Andenes del tiempo, the artist who was born in Seville and brought up in Córdoba, acknowledged how other cultural atmospheres have added to his flamenco roots.

This outstanding student of El Tomate, El Merengue and Manolo Sanlúcar considers himself loyal to the training he received, without denying how he has integrated other musical manifestations into his artistry. Something that has been true since the beginning of his career. Along the way, Amigo has had the opportunity to share the stage and artistic inquisitiveness with other great guitar names. An unforgettable milestone was taking part in the concert “Mestres da Guitarra” beside Al Di Meola, Paco de Lucía and John Mclaughlin. The result of this ongoing exchange is a coming together of ideas, feelings and traditions, always from a basis of equilibrium and respect. When his guitar produces an encounter, emotion flows.

Gold Merit Medal in Fine Art in 2016 (Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes), acclaimed by international critics and audiences around the world, the Teatro de la Maestranza welcomes in concert this unique tocaor (player), equipped with an astonishing technique and rich sound, a musician through and through, an essential name on the contemporary Spanish music scene.
