Come out smiling from this opera

On the surface, The magic flute seems to be a fairy tale. And it is, but everyone knows that all stories are much more complex than they appear. The German impresario and singer Schikaneder wanted Mozart to compose an opera to premiere in the theatre he directed in Vienna. Something simple that the audience would understand, full of memorable melodies and, of course, with a role (Papageno) where he (the impresario) would shine. And so, he gave him a libretto with a very long serpent chasing after the hero of this tale.

Tamino and Pamina, are the protagonists of a rite of passage story. Both must successfully pass a series of trials to complete the transition from darkness to light. The result was so wonderful that The magic flute became by far the most successful opera of the composer. It is a pity he died so soon after and was unable to enjoy this accomplishment…

This is a co-production between various theatres in which the Teatro de la Maestranza participates. Only an hour long, this show for the whole family condenses all the key moments and beauty of one of the most perfect operas ever composed.
