Eternal Youth

The difficulty of finding somewhere to live is not a recent problem. La bohème portrays a group of artists who try to pursue a career without dying of starvation (this used to happen) while sharing a tiny garret in Paris in the first third of the 19th century. This is nothing new two centuries later. Except for cell phones and social media, those young people were much the same as today’s. Overflowing with energy and imagination, they weathered the storm while hoping life wouldn’t take a grudge against them ahead of time. When you are young, death should never be on the menu…

A timeless story of youth, love, pain and friendship, written at lightning speed with the exceptional melodic lines of Giacomo Puccini, one of the rare geniuses of dramatic music. The romance between Rodolfo and Mimi transcends generations yet never loses the emotion and spirit which has made it a classic. The preview performance, at a unique price, is the perfect occasion to enter (and never leave) the world of opera. Join the group. There is space for you in the drafty garret.

The Teatro de la Maestranza confirms its commitment with young audiences by programming previews for the under 30’s for a single price of 10€.
