A Genuine Artist

Any conscious artist faces the possibility of being overwhelmed by success. An excess of popularity, a false move on the road to fame, becoming a celebrity too soon … and the artist is devoured by his own avatar. Salvador Sobral knew how to escape a destiny led by his unquestionable triumph at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. Without a doubt, the Portuguese singer owes a lot to Amar pelos Dois, the song that won the competition for him. However, before and after his global success, the singer had displayed a talent and artistic curiosity that went beyond his minute of glory.

Having studied jazz while living in Barcelona, nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2021, awarded a Golden Globe for Best Performer in 2024, and a musical buddy of our Silvia Pérez Cruz, with whom he shared songs with a tour which took them halfway across the world… Salvador Sobral is a genuine artist and a socially aware citizen in tune with the reality of our world. In this new recital at the Teatro de la Maestranza, after his performances in 2018 and 2022, he comes back amid a full and very productive romance with Brazilian music. ¿Will he sing his Eurovision song? Who knows. But if not, for sure it won’t be missed.
