A Gala of Discovery to celebrate World Opera Day

There is a first time for everything. For 20 years, the Seville Association of Friends of the Opera (Asociación Sevillana de Amigos de la Ópera) has opened the door for that first encounter between artists and their audience. In the 21st edition of the “Certamen de Nuevas Voces Ciudad de Sevilla”, the initiative of a fundamental institution for promoting the well-being of young vocal talent in Spain makes this possible again.

Coinciding with World Opera Day, the Teatro de la Maestranza becomes a stage of magic moments once more: the artists have the chance to demonstrate their talent, and the audience will go adding new names to its list of favourite voices during the evening. On stage will be young singers taking their first steps towards glorification, just as others before them in this competition. The jury is made up of important names in opera, some of whom had to pave the wave in their own day. A date for opera lovers, especially for curious spirits in search of new talent, hoping to witness the birth of a new star… and say afterwards “I was there”.
