In radiant black and white

Cinema fans at the beginning of the 20th century were madly in love with Pola Negri. Just as Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo would be in the future, the actress of Polish descent was the incarnation of the femme fatale, a seductress with no mercy, capable of sending men to ruin, madness and death. Ernst Lubitsch, one of the fathers of cinema, found her beauty and talent so irresistible that he adopted the actress as his muse.

This happened in Germany, long before Lubitsch went to Hollywood to become the king of comedy. And before the arrival of talking pictures and the decline of the diva, unable to adapt to the new times. In 1918, Pola Negri made her debut with Lubitsch: The eyes of the Mummy Ma and Carmen marked the beginning of a legendary collaboration. The adaptation of the Merimée classic is a jewel which, more than a century after its premiere, sustains all the power of this story.

Cigarette girls, soldiers, bull fighters, smugglers, and, of course, Pola Negri’s eyes. Quite the artistic experience. On a large screen with the soundtrack played by the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla (The Royal Symphony Orchestra of Sevilla), the splendour of the past has returned.
