The King’s penultimate Waltz

By the time Miguel Ríos took to the road in 1982 with his tour Rock & Ríos some time had elapsed since the musician from Granada had invented Hispanic rock and roll. His songs and he himself have never been absent, not one single day in the lifetime of our country. He was not much more than a youngster when his American image, Mike Ríos, turned into the Rey del Twist (King of the Twist), a prestigious title in those years when being young made one immediately suspect.

His title did not come casually, nor would it be short-lived. Having adopted a black leather jacket and recouped Miguel as his artistic name, Ríos set out to be incombustible. And he succeeded. The public that had danced in party halls brought in new generations of fans who continued under canopies, in bull rings and soccer stadiums. Miguel Ríos has never stopped The King. And, as in one of his songs, “at the top of one´s lungs”.

For those who have seen him in concert, they know about this artist’s commitment in capital letters. The Teatro de la Maestranza is proud to present the concert which closes Miguel Río’s tour, El último vals. It is the culmination of the career of a legend. The King invites us to keep on dancing.
