Thirty years is just the beginning
Thirty years after its inauguration on May 2, 1991 by Queen Sofía of Spain, the Teatro de la Maestranza celebrates its age of young maturity with the same excitement and the same enthusiasm. That said, with the accumulated experience and knowledge of a coliseum where wonderful evenings of opera have been performed, as well.
We celebrate 30 years beside the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla (Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra), our brilliant partner in the orchestra pit for our operatic successes, along with the Coro de la Asociación de Amigos del Teatro de la Maestranza (Chorus of the Association of Friends of the Teatro de la Maestranza), the result of an admirable fraternal passion for opera, which the theatre rapidly introduced into the musical life of Sevilla.
A Gala under conductor Juanjo Mena, brings together the best Spanish voices of the moment: Carlos Álvarez, Simón Orfila, José Bros, Xabier Anduaga, Rocío Ignacio, Leonor Bonilla and Ainhoa Arteta, reunited exclusively for this special occasion to celebrate the birthday of a theatre which looks to it past achievements with a steady gaze fixed on the future.
