Gala Concert by the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra

On Wednesday September 2, 2026, one of the most important musical events of 2026 comes to the stage of the Teatro de la Maestranza with the official opening of the 26/27 season of the Seville theatre.

As previously announced, the Maestranza theatre is part of a tour by the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the festival. This historical and exceptional commemoration will take the legendary Wagnerian orchestra to some of the principal musical stages across Spain.

Under the baton of Pablo Heras-Casado, born in Granada, the evening will include a a cast of top-level international soloists: Catherine Foster, Klaus Florian Vogt and Nicholas Brownlee will interpret a selection from the Ring Cycle for a programme prepared especially for this commemorative tour.

The visit by the orchestra was announced officially on October 3, 2025, at the Castillo de Peralada. The tour will begin on August 29, 2026, at the Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona) to coincide with the closing ceremony of the 40th anniversary of the Perelada Festival. From there, it will travel to Santander and its “Festival Internacional” (31 August), to Seville - Teatro de la Maestranza (2 September), Madrid - Teatro Real (3 September) and Valencia - Palau de la Música de (6 September).

The presence of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra at the Teatro de la Maestranza represents a culturally historic occasion which reaffirms the Seville theatre as one of the great stages for opera and symphonic events on the international scene.
