Spanish Voices, Spanish Music

A considerable sector of opera devotees turned its back on our zarzuela (Spanish operetta) for decades. To regain its due respect, it was thanks to the hard work of musicologists, high level stage and musical productions and, of course, the commitment of suitable voices for a genre of enormous artistic value. Two of these singers come to the Teatro de la Maestranza to perform once again for their audience and to renew their loyalty to this repertoire.

Tenor José Bros and soprano Ainhoa Arteta are frequently part of our programming, and as favourites of their many fans, zarzuela music is always part of their recitals. For those who have had the opportunity to see them, individually or together, their rapport, their dedication to the stage, and an extraordinary capacity to connect with the audience is perfect for conveying the passion of our most characteristic genre across the world. The Orquesta de Córdoba conducted by Salvador Vázquez adds intensity to this tribute, a meeting of two first class artists who renew their devotion to the cause, to a music which, in their voices, becomes even greater.

Works by Tomás Bretón, Reveriano Soutullo and Juan Vert, Gerónimo Giménez, Pablo Sorozábal, Jacinto Guerrero, Amadeo Vives, Federico Moreno Torroba, Joaquín Turina, Pablo Luna, Jesús Guridi and Manuel Penella
