The Voice that Reveals a Life

There are voices of extraordinary quality, a superlative technique, of incomparable sound. There are singers who give their all in each performance and in each character. And then, there is Ermonela Jaho, for whom singing is really a question of life and death. The soprano who is so many women. The woman who has represents these characters on stage, but only after taking them into body and soul beforehand. No wonder she considers each performance as a moment to renounce one’s very self in exchange for breathing life into a creature who, until that moment, was pure fiction.

Every appearance of Ermonela Jaho – her Butterfly in 2021 in our theatre is unforgettable - is a happening. Overcoming a harsh life in Albania, her country of birth, she discovered a passion for opera at an early age. She went to Italy where she was trained, reaching the most prestigious stages around the world which verifies Jaho as an extraordinary woman. This is accentuated when Rubén Fernández Aguirre is at her side; he is one of the piano accompanists who best understands the female voice. Specifically, that of a soprano who, by giving life to other lives, has achieved a place among the best.
